Via Nazionale is absolutely one of the most important arteries of the capital. This strongly tourist Via Nazionale district hosts several accommodations such as hotels, rental rooms, holiday homes, hostels and bed and breakfast. The length of the district is about one km and a half, connecting Piazza Repubblica with Largo Magnanapoli, two roman areas of great importance. Repubblica Square is located in front of the Basilica of the Angels and Martyrs complex, a key tourist destination. The square appears very elegant, thanks to the impressive portico that surrounds it and the Naiadi Fountain located at its center. From there begins the path down the Via Nazionale full of fashionable shops and catering establishments. The path descends towards Venezia Square, and when continuing the path it's possible to visit the Exhibition Palace, which houses the most important art exhibitions staged in Rome and the historical Theater Eliseo. Secondary roads cross Via Nazionale and bring you to the Opera House, Viminale Square and Quirinale Square, the Presidency of the Italian Republic, also known for its stables transformed into the use of art exhibitions. Arriving to Largo Magnanapoli you'll find the dominating dimensions of Venezia Square, the Altar of the Fatherland, a national monument where the remains of the unknown soldier are buried. The square includes Palazzo Venezia, also custodian of numerous important exhibitions. Walking from the square to Via dei Fori Imperiali it's like an open window on the Foro Romano reaching all the way up to the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine. Visitors may opt to follow the opposite path and reach Largo di Torre Argentina, which houses the archaeological findings from the Sacred Area, and where is located the famous Argentina Theater, home of many cultural venues. From there, areas such as Navona Square, Campo de Fiori, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain are easily reached by foot.
